Ode to Pain

(So I really wanted to write some poetry, but I didn't know what to write. This is kinda forced out, so it's probably not as good as something that comes naturally.)

Pain.
Like abandonment
Or losing your cat
Like when those you love quit
Or being told you're fat

And pain.
Like being hit
Swung at with a bat
Like being bit
Beat up by a brat

Emotionally heart breaking
Physically earth shaking
Mentally bone battering
Bodily life shattering
Painfully terrifying

If it's a temperature too warm
Or your existence's bane
Whether it's a big storm
Or a little rain
Everyone knows pain.

I think this could be a lot more powerful if you dropped the rhyme scheme. Rhyme tends to make poetry feel light-hearted, and this isn't at all a light-hearted subject.
