Getting Dark
It's getting dark in here, Says that voice inside my head, And I think, that's no surprise, Because this soul is almost dead.
All the fears and insecurities So long I've kept inside? All the falls and failures I've worked so hard to hide?
Well now I think they're killing me, Coming back to bite. Just another thing haunting me, Another thing to fight.
It's getting dark in here, And because I've played my part so well No one will ever notice. No one will save me from this hell.
I'm starting to fall apart, This bottle's fit to burst, But I'll burn the bridges, build the walls, And only make it worse.
The truth is I kind of like it, Kind of like being on my own Because who can really hurt you When you're all alone?
Yes, it's getting dark in here, As I slowly go insane, But the clouds have to go dark So God can make it rain.
The clouds are black as soot now, So let the rain come down. I'll open up my mouth to catch some And see if I can drown.
It's getting dark in here, Says that voice on my shoulder, So I whisper, Shh, don't worry darling. I promise it's almost over. So, um, this is really dark and twisted, more so than I planned when I started. Please don't ask me if I need help. The person in the poem is in no way me or even anyone I know, just a fictional person/scenario I thought up. I would much appreciate comments ^^

I really like this. Unlike mine, the rhyme fits with the poem pretty well. I also like how twisted it gets.
It's weird that Mighty to Save is the song that first came to mind when reading this.
It's also weird that I found a poem from a couple years ago that, while no where near as good, is very similar to this. It refers a lot to it being dark, and the narrator hiding. I just thought that was cool.
