Background Information
When you adore singing....but cannot even hope to do so well, what do you do?
A genius inventor decided he was going to make some singers for him. He would not need to go through training himself, but would still have the great sound of lovely voices around.
Years passed as he drew plans, tested, and failed. Many, many times. The inventor only lived to see the first parts of his plans completed, however. Before his death (he lived to be quite old), he was able to complete three subjects. These subjects, however, displayed quite a few glitches that he was not able to fully work out.
The three subjects actually included two models. One of them was the very first of his ideas, and included the most glitches. The other two were relatively the same model, but created as separate genders. They were more of an experiment than anything else, and the inventor had planned to disable them and create more with an improved model....luckily, he did not get the chance.
After his death, his son continued his research.
These three, dubbed the Digi-chords, displayed highly human emotions. They also learned quickly, and aside from a few electronic problems, were very convincing as humans. As they were programmed, they were also absolutely amazing singers....their voices were practically made for the job. The inventor's son taught them about his and his father's research, and after a few years the Digi-chords were helping him. With their help, the son was able to complete many more subjects than his father had time for alone.
His first two creations were of his favorite color- blue. They had glitches as well, but of a different manner than the trio. Glitches seemed inevitable no matter what he did....but he made sure that the same thing never happened twice.
Soon the son was booking them shows to sing at, taking the money to fund his designs and research. Eventually he and the Digi-chords were traveling during his planning phases. His money built up from each show...and he made more and more subjects.
The son, however, met an untimely end from a car incident. Having no children of his own, the Digi-chords were on their own. In memory of their inventor, they continued to travel the world as their own group. They were, after all, family. The only one they had.
Eventually they realized that they needed someone to help them when their mechanics malfunctioned. They stalked down the most brilliant engineer they could find, and offered to pay him for staying with them on their trips. A sort of personal doctor, if you will.
To this day they travel, never aging despite the oldest having been made near twenty years ago. All they wish to do is sing for their fans.
Digi-chord Information
- Each Digi-chord member is themed with a certain color. This color is represented often through their hair, and always through the color of their nails.
- Numbers are tattooed on the heel of their right foot, a sort of model recording for the inventors. This number will never go away, and details of when they were born compared to the others.
- Digi-chords do not eat or drink. They get their energy through recharging at night, in a method that looks like sleeping. Skipping a single night of recharge does not destroy them, but constant recharge keeps them from the risk of running out of battery. For once this happens, they go into a deep recharge that can run for days. Most models have an automated warning when they are dangerously low.
- Some models have an alternate energy source- solar power. This energy is gathered by solar plates built in the eyes. To gather the energy, they need only stare at the sun. This will not last them forever, but is a good temporary alternative when there is no time to recharge.
Living Quarters
So what kind of living space is recommended for a group of musical robots? Many suggestions had been made...including things ranging from a simple tour bus to a lovely spacecraft. Deciding that these were a little too extreme one way or the other, a compromise was made by choosing a blimp.
Yes.
A blimp was obviously the superior choice.
The blimp's design is that of a complicated motherboard, its colors varied and reminiscent of a rainbow. Large words announcing their band's name is painted along both sides.
The gondola is quite large and houses all of the Digi-chord's needs. These needs are very simple- a recharge room, cooling room, and the all important game room.
Recharge Room: This room has little furniture. Its only characteristics, in fact, are grooves built in with seat belts. These grooves are for the Digi-chords to lay in while they recharge; the belts are to keep them from flying across the room in case of extreme weather.
Cooling Room: This room is basically a room where the walls are not solid, but mesh. This allows the air from outside to continuously pass through the room, causing a chilling temperature. This is absolutely perfect for overheated systems.
Game Room: The largest room. This holds anything that they would like for pleasure or for learning- it has video games, board games, and computers all in here.
Along with these Digi-chord specific rooms, there is also a wing that is specifically for the only human on the blimp, the Electrician. This wing includes a small bathroom, bedroom, washer and dryer (the Digi-chords do use this as well), and even a small kitchen area. The kitchen area is simple- only with the bare necessities such as a microwave, pantry, sink, and toaster.
